A CBD candle is a home-fragrance candle formulated with cannabidiol alongside wax and aromatic ingredients. It is designed to scent a room and provide candlelight — not to deliver a measured dose of CBD.
Our CBD candle collection combines CBD with essential-oil blends in three fragrance directions: Grounding, Breathe and Slumber. This guide explains what the CBD label means, what to compare and how to use a candle safely.
What Is a CBD Candle?
Like any scented candle, a CBD candle is a complete formulation. Its performance depends on the wax, wick, vessel, fragrance system and manufacturing tests. CBD is one ingredient within that system.
Hemp candle is sometimes used as a broader marketing term. It can refer to hemp-derived wax, hemp seed oil, cannabidiol or simply a cannabis-inspired fragrance. Read the actual specification rather than assuming every hemp candle contains CBD.
Can You Absorb CBD by Burning a Candle?
A room-fragrance candle is not a controlled delivery system. We do not present burning one as a way to absorb a medicinal or systemic dose of CBD, and the product is not intended for ingestion, inhalation as a dose or use on skin.
MYTH BUSTER
How CBD Candles Differ from Ordinary Scented Candles
The practical differences are product-specific rather than universal. A CBD candle may use the same familiar waxes, wick types and essential oils as another scented candle. The presence of CBD does not automatically make it stronger-scented, longer-lasting, cleaner-burning or safer.
Compare the complete formula, scent notes, size, care instructions and verified product information. “Natural” and “hemp” should not replace those details.
Choosing a CBD Candle by Scent
- Grounding: Sweet Orange and Bergamot over Frankincense and Indian Ginger — bright citrus with resinous warmth.
- Breathe: Lemongrass, Eucalyptus, Tea Tree and Peppermint — crisp, fresh and herbal.
- Slumber: Lavender, Clary Sage, Ylang Ylang and Nutmeg — soft florals with a gently spiced base.
These names describe fragrance concepts and everyday rituals. They do not promise to treat stress, breathing problems or insomnia. The ASA requires objective health claims for aromatherapy products to be supported and restricts medicinal claims for unlicensed products.1

Wax, Wick and Scent Throw
Vegetable waxes such as coconut, soy and rapeseed can be used alone or in blends. The correct wick depends on the wax, vessel and fragrance. A larger fragrance percentage is not automatically better; the finished candle should be formulated and burn-tested as a system.
Cold throw is the scent before lighting. Hot throw is the scent during use. Room size, draughts and ventilation affect both. Use the candle within its stated limits rather than adding extra essential oil or trying to alter the wick.
What to Check Before Buying
- the exact fragrance notes and full product description;
- wax, wick and vessel information where supplied;
- size and realistic burn guidance;
- clear wick-care and maximum-burn instructions;
- hazard and allergen labelling;
- who is responsible for the finished product;
- whether CBD claims are limited to the factual formulation.
UK product-safety guidance says candles need safety assessment covering burning behaviour, stability, labelling and fragrance hazards. Common fragrance ingredients can be sensitisers, including when they are naturally derived.2
How to Burn a CBD Candle Safely
- Place the candle upright on a stable, heat-resistant surface.
- Keep it away from draughts, curtains, papers and other flammable materials.
- Follow the label for wick trimming and maximum burn time.
- Keep children and pets away from the flame and hot vessel.
- Never leave it unattended or burning while anyone sleeps.
- Extinguish it if the flame becomes unusually large, the candle smokes excessively or the vessel is damaged.
These precautions align with London Fire Brigade guidance for candles and oil burners.3

Can you absorb CBD by burning a candle?
A room-fragrance candle is not a controlled CBD delivery system. It should not be presented as a way to absorb a medicinal or systemic dose of CBD.
Does a CBD candle make you high?
No intoxicating effect should be expected from using a CBD candle as directed as a room-fragrance product.
What should I look for in a CBD candle?
